Memoria del Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín. Abdellatif Laâbi nació en Fès, Marruecos, en 1942. Poeta, novelista, dramaturgo, ensayista, antologista y traductor del árabe al francés de destacados autores, entre ellos Mahmud Darwish y Abdelwahab al-Bayati. Profesor de francés y miembro de la Academia Mallarmé. En 1966 fundó la revista Souffles, y las Ediciones Atlantes, en compañía de otros poetas marroquíes. Desde los 20 años ha publicado poesía. Con Abraham Serfaty, fundó la Asociación de Investigación Cultural. Sus escritos en contra del régimen de Hassan II le llevaron a la cárcel varias veces entre 1972 y 1980. Actualmente reside en París. Né en 1938 à Khémisset, Mohamed Abbazi est titulaire d'une licence d'études cinématographiques de l'Université de Californie à Los Angeles (UCLA) en 1966. Il poursuit ses études de cinéma à l'Université de Harvard dont il sort lauréat en 1969.
