Ahh. Here's to that feeling when you're in your bubble bath, and you look over to see your rubber ducky still sitting next to you. This is what happens when you leave a german at the computer too long. Music thanks goes to Karen! The bestestEST cousin ever! (I'm getting better at calling adjectives, can't you tell?) Listen for when he goes: bo-bo bo-bo bi-du (Yes, yes, I mispelled my username at the very end. Try not to laugh so hard you cough up your colon and choke on it.)

Just an attempt to go into character relations at NCIS. Obviously with Abs as a focus as she's my favourite character. *smiles* This is part one (sorted alphabetical) Abigail & Duckman. :) I won't make any promises... but the rough range for Abs&Ducky episodes is JAG Ice Queen & Melt down + NCIS 1.01-4.24.

also on the bill were BILLY CLUB featuring ex members of BROKEN BONES & DISCHARGE..I think it was around the late winter or early Spring of 1995 when I was moved to visit Jay at his local job at Papa Gino's and tell him it was time to start a band. http://www.myspace.com/duckyboys We had played together over the past few years learning cover songs and having fun but we never really tried to play original music. Or when we did, it sucked. See, we had been playing Guns N' Roses cover songs with some dudes we knew from the 'burbs and that eventually spilled over into some Nirvana songs and stuff like that. Looking back on it I think we were trying to write songs of that style and they were just awful because they weren't natural for us. But eventually that project fell apart and we were bandless. So Jay was a pizza delivery guy with Papa's and he drove his mini van all over. It was probably a big liability for the company but he often let me ride around with him in his van while we listened to tapes by Metallica, GNR, Rancid or any of the other decent rock bands of the day. This time around I came prepared. I selected a few songs by Rancid, Green Day and the Bruisers that I wanted to play for him and show him that it was really simple stuff and we could try it. Soon after we kicked in some money that neither of us really had and we got a room at the Music Complex in Charlestown, MA. We didn't sign a lease and we kept the room for exactly one month trying to see what we could come up with. Most of the ideas were bad and they are long forgotten. Some of them were recycled and used later. We gave it another shot when Jay's cousin arranged for us to gain access to the St. Catherine's Parish Hall. We had used it before with our cover band but this was a the first time we would give it a go on originals. At some point we played there with a guy from the neighborhood that didn't work out. Then we decided to give it a go with another local guy named Mike. We had known each other for a long time and had been on-again off again friends/associates for about 4 years. We got together a few times with both of us playing guitar and Jay on drums. But we had no bass player and no singer so I messed around with singing the songs. Maybe Mike did too... I can't really recall. I'm not sure how many times we practiced but we had the song that later became "Pride" although at this stage it was a really thinly veiled rip off of Rancid's "Radio" and really had no identity of its own. Eventually Mike and I had yet another falling out and we called it a day. Jay and I spent most of the summer talking periodically about putting a band together but we were both pretty wrapped up in our first serious relationships with girls. Girls.... The rock n' roll angel of death. We put some ads out there in local record stores looking for someone to play guitar with us. I had resigned to jumping back to bass if needed and proceeding from there. We had a few auditions but none of it seemed to work. By the time the fall rolled around we decided that we would go back and ask Mike to play again for lack of other options. In desperation to see this thing get off the ground I appealed to his ego and offered to jump back to bass even though I was easily as good if not better on guitar at the time. It just so happened I had a bass so it would be practical for me to do that. So we got together and went right to work. We learned a few Rancid and Bruisers songs to cut out teeth on and have something to play and then started working on originals. Both "Pride" and "White Slum" were the first songs we put together. I embraced the idea of writing the words early on. In those days I'd make up the songs at home and then we'd play them at practice with no vocals. We'd record it on a boom box and I'd take it come and write words over the tape. That was the reason why very few of our early songs had any hooks whatsoever. It was really just making something fit. The early songs included the two aforementioned as well as "I'll Go Back", "On My Own", "Hellbound" as well as a few songs that got tossed early by the names of "Outsider", "Townies" and "Looking Back" (not the song of the same name that appeared later on "Three Chords and the Truth"). I vividly recall the day that we decided to set up our amps on the floor of the hall instead of the stage and that was the day I showed the guys my new song titled "I've Got My Friends" - again, without words at the time. By the time 1995 came to an end we were practicing about 3 nights per week with really no intentions of ever doing anything beyond that. But things took a turn in early 1996..... http://www.duckyboys.com/
