The S(E)OUL SCAPE. Towards a New Urbanity in Korea exhibition, curated by Francisco Sanin and produced by iMage, has been presented on January 24th, 2008 at the SESV gallery in Florence, Italy. After a long period of dictatorship and along with an extraordinary process of economic development that characterized the last years, South Korea opened up to experimentation in all major arts, not least architecture. And architecture is at the center of the exhibition curated by Francisco Sanin, which presents an overview on the research which revolves around that emerging yet configured urban landscape that constitutes this unique city and is continuously engulfing the entire population of the South Korean peninsula. Six among the most well known Korean architects are the protagonists of this evolution. Their work represents an ongoing research and exploration, a critical view to the processes taking place in this unique context. Chung Guyon, Joh Sung-yong, Kim Young-joon, Min Hyun-sik, Seung H-sang, Yi Jong-ho represent the generation of those who have been able to trigger a debate, an interaction, a research which is aimed at rousing Korea from a feverish moment of great political turmoil. Set in Chosun Dynasty, Seo-rae village is enshrouded by a thick fog coming from the lake. While running from a group of village kids, Hyo-jin and his sister So-yeon fall into the lake. The mother of the twins tries hard to save them, both but manages only to save So-yeon, who is alive but comatose. Ten years later, CHOI is murdered mysteriously as he was heading home from a friends gathering. And at that precise moment, So-yeon wakes up from her coma, without any memories of her childhood or even of her sister Hyo-jin. . Not long after the So-yeon's recovery, more former friends are killed and people suspect So-yeon.. Her lover Hyun-sik, in truth misses the dead sister, Hyo-jin. Si la tónica habitual consiste en una serie de sucesos dramáticos que desembocan en un torrente de desgracias, en esta ocasión nos encontramos con una comedia familia. La historia se desencadena a través de un accidente de coche donde Na Rim, la niña pequeña de la familia es la única sobreviviente y testigo del accidente provocado que ha matado a su familia. Con la mala suerte para la pequeña que tras el accidente queda en estado de shock y le es imposible hablar o recordar nada. Un tío segundo de Na Rim sospecha algo y como consecuencia propone crear una familia sustituta para ayudar a la pequeña y curar su amnesia. Para llevar a cabo este propósito contrata a Oh Dal Gun un ex gangster que se dedica a contratar gente para hacerse pasar por familiares o citas, de ese modo Oh Dal Gun adopta el papel de tío y desesperado encuentra a en los bajos fondos de la ciudad a los nuevos miembros de la familia de Na Rim, padre, madre, abuela, abuelo, hermano y hermana. Todos los miembros de la familia arrastran consigo experiencias de vida muy peculiares, encarnan personajes difíciles llenos de problemas, pero también tiernos y necesitados de cariño. La historia es un equilibrio entre la cómica convivencia familiar, el intento por recuperar los recuerdos de Na Rim y destapar al culpable del accidente y las dificultades familiares por sobrevivir y superar las situaciones personales de cada uno, todo esto les abrirá paso a crear unos vínculos familiares.
