Alan Keyes is asked a question about gay marriage and gay adoption and proceeds to give one of the longest strings or overspoken BS I've ever heard. As Obama points out later, his logic isn't very complicated at all, it's just weak and poorly communicated. The original video, in its complete form, was uploaded at the link below by lovingj1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG5u04Gbg0A&NR=1 ---------------------------------------- Just to clarify why Keyes is wrong, poorly spoken and a bad debater... To be well-spoken, and a good communicator, you should say EVERYTHING you need to say to get your point across, but NOTHING MORE. To be a good debater, you should focus directly on the issue, clearly dismantle your opponent's statements and establish your points, and AVOID pissing off the audience or the moderator. Keyes did the opposite of that. He said much, much more then he needed, with unnecessary vocabulary words, to the point that everyone's eyes glazed over and they got irritated with him. His first point is not complicated. Marriage was created to accompany procreation, which a man and a woman can do in theory. When two people can't procreate, there's no point in allowing them to marry. That's it. That's his point. It shoudn't have taken him more then 10 seconds. And everyone would've understood him and been able to respond. Instead, he said way too much, confused people, and pissed off the crowd and the moderator who is supposed to be impartial. On top of that, both of his points are EXTREMELY weak. 1. A man and a woman who can't have children (if they're too old or whatever) are still allowed to marry. So we allowed marriage to be a non-baby-having institution a long time ago. Thus, there's no reason why we can't allow homosexual couples to marry also. 2. Who's to say that homosexual couple can't then adopt a child? Then it becomes a matter of creating a stable household for children, just like heterosexual marriage. 3. His last point, about incest, is ridiculous. It argues for allowing children to know who their biological parents are, not for stopping homosexual couples from having children. Alan Keyes is a moron with weak points. There is basically NO logical reason not to allow homosexual couples to marry, and no amount of overspeaking will change that.

When the press got in a tizzy over Keyes claiming that Jesus Christ would not vote for Obama they downplayed the specific reason why - Obama supports infanticide! Don't believe it? Read what Obama said in opposing the Illinois version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act here. http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/01/obamas_worst_li.html and here http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/02/links_to_barack.html Links to Barack Obama's votes on IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act I'm receiving more and more email requests for corroboration of Barack Obama's votes on IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act as state senator. So I'm going to write a permanent post. obama.jpgI'm also posting, right, an August 25, 2004, Chicago Sun-Times cartoon by Jack Higgins, printed on page 49, pictorially admonishing Obama for his opposition to Born Alive. A package of Born Alive bills was introduced three times during Obama's tenure. The cornerstone bill was the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which defined legal personhood. This definition was identical to the federal BAIPA which was drafted from the definition of "live birth" created by the World Health Organization in 1950 and adopted by the United Nations in 1955.... Here I will only post links to Obama's actions and votes on the cornerstone bill, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. The bill number changed every year it was reintroduced. 2001 Senate Bill 1095, Born Alive Infant Protection Act Obama's "no" vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 28, 2001, is no longer available online. Transcript of Obama's verbal opposition to Born Alive on the IL Senate floor, March 30, 2001, pages 84-90 Obama's "present" vote on the IL Senate floor, March 30, 2001 2002 Senate Bill 1662, Born Alive Infant Protection Act Obama's "no" vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 6, 2002, is no longer available online. Transcript of Obama's verbal opposition to Born Alive on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002, pages 28-35 Obama's "no" vote on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002 2003 Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act Democrats took control of the IL Senate with the 2002 elections. They sent Born Alive to the infamously liberal Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Barack Obama. As can be seen on the Actions docket, Obama held Born Alive on March 6, 2003, from even being voted on in committee. It is also important to note from the docket that on March 13, 2003, Obama stopped the senate sponsor from adding the lately discussed clarification paragraph from the federal BAIPA, to make the bills absolutely identical.
