Nawras Goodwill Journey 4 Concludes Successfully تصوير: عدنان البلوشي صوت: خالد الراشدي مونتاج: فراس البلوشي إخراج: محبوب أحمد موسى Concluding the Nawras Goodwill Journey 4, a poignant gathering took place at the companys main office in Azaiba in the presence of Chief Guest H.E. Khalil Abdullah Al-Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Marking the end of the two-week mission, the Nawras family led by members of the Executive Committee, gathered to greet the goodwill ambassadors on the final day of the successful fourth journey. Weary bodies were evident but rejuvenated spirits overcame the fatigue as the team reflected on their experience. Over the previous two weeks, Nawras Goodwill Journey 4 notched up a total distance of around 6,000 kilometres, with the convoy driving across often challenging terrain to visit charitable associations and social centres, across the Sultanate. Beginning with the Omar Bin Al Khattab Association for the Blind in Maabellah, the last stop on the journey took place at the Al Wafa Voluntary Centre in Bidiya. In-between these two locations, the Nawras Goodwill Journey also called at Barka, Saham, Khasab, Al Buraimi, Bahla, Jebel Shams, Thumrait and Al Duqum. At each location, the Nawras team members donated items requested by the charities to improve the daily lives of those attending the centres. Gifts ranging from air-conditioning units to furniture were provided and in addition, the team gave and assembled Nawras Internet centres by installing computers as well as donating Nawras SIM-cards, modems and Nawras Recharge cards. Nawras is helping to spread the advantages of communication technology to those who have not had such opportunities before. Nawras CEO Ross Cormack and Chief Technical Advisor Abdulla Al-Rawahy joined the team at Jebel Shams and together everyone put their effort and energy into constructing a protective shelter for the ladies creating attractive Omani handicrafts in the area. The effort didnt stop there however, as the Nawras Goodwill team continued working and established a football ground for the local people to enjoy in their leisure time. Importantly, throughout the journey, the team took time to understand the magnificent work carried out selflessly by the volunteers of each organisation. The Nawras Goodwill Journey participants spoke of experiencing feelings of great joy and humility as they played games with the children and saw the smiles of happiness beaming across their faces. Before leaving each venue, the team presented the children with toys that they could enjoy long after the dust had settled on the convoys departure. During the final event, Nawras Chief Operating Officer, Khalid Al-Mahmoud expressed his feelings about the journey, by saying, The Nawras Goodwill Journey is about giving from the heart, not just the pocket. All those involved have been personally enriched and humbled by the experience, whether it was the fourth or first journey that they had participated in. The impact of each interaction stays with us and time does not diminish the emotions and commitment we feel. Ross Cormack, Nawras CEO, added, Nawras is committed to enriching the lives of those less fortunate and we consider ourselves privileged to undergo this journey during Ramadan. For me personally, it was an honour and privilege to join the team once again. It is heart-warming to see the positive difference Nawras is able to make in the daily lives of those living in various places across the Sultanate, including the beautiful villages on Jebel Shams, the highest point in the Sultanate. While the event marked the end of this years special mission, Nawras continues to extend support to the community in the Sultanate of Oman in many different ways, all year round and encourages other companies to take their respective corporate social responsibility roles seriously. Nawras launched its SMS charity donation service in 2005 and continues to enable customers to make charitable donations to the Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) on a year-round basis. For each free SMS sent with the keyword DONATE to 90095, Nawras customers can donate 209 Baisas. All funds collected are passed in entirety to the OCO. Nawras currently covers 96% of the population with its reliable world-class network, using national roaming where necessary and always with Nawras great value.
