Its 16th June 1963. A 26 year old Soviet Air Force Officer has been chosen to try to become the first woman in space, and is being readied for her launch aboard a Vostok rocket. Jr. Lt. Valentina Tereshkova seems relaxed, as she is prepared for flight by technicians and doctors, before saying her farewells, and climbing calmly into her capsule. After being sealed inside, two hours later, the spectacular launch of Vostok 6 rocket is successfully completed.

El 16 de junio de 1963 se lanzó el Vostok 6 desde el Cosmódromo de Baikonur, con la cosmonauta Valentina Tereshkova como piloto. Los objetivos del vuelo Vostok 6 incluían el análisis comparativo de los efectos del vuelo espacial en el organismo de hombres y mujeres, investigación biológica, desarrollo y mejora de los sistemas de la nave espacial bajo condiciones de vuelo conjunto. El Vostok 6 se acercó al Vostok 5, pilotado por otro cosmonauta, aproximadamente a 5 km, el punto más cercano alcanzado en vuelo espacial.
