hope i do this composition some sort of justice - this is giant steps written by the great john coltrane. it ain't easy to play but i'm giving it a red hot go here...sorry if i offend anyone with all these notes! personally and you'll probably agree - i have to work on making phrasing a more tasteful and be a bit more economic i think (maybe a lot!) but anyhow...hope you dig it.

a more ambient style thing. it's simple in design, really, but it's possibly the start of something i'd like to do more of at some point...it's especially good to try if you have a piano with alot of sustain.

I call this composition 'E to A' because the chords go from e to a. duh. as you can hear, it's a happy little latin groove with a nimble 16th feel. (a little too happy maybe.) i think i just stumbled on writing and jamming stuff like this quite a few years ago, but it's shuffled its way into the form as heard here. i played it once with a band and it works pretty well in that format too. the hardest bit is trying to improvise over the syncopated left hand bit at the end (i guess you could call it a 'shout chorus') - in fact, this song is dedicated to my good friend and drummer from NY, charles telerant. been way too long between catch ups...
