An extended Opener to TVQ Channel 0 Brisbane's "Eyewitness News" in HD (Higher Definition). It aired on Tuesday, April 12, 1983. The Anchors were Des McWilliam and Jacki MacDonald. Reporting on the newly elected Hawke Government Economic Summit in Canberra is the 0-TEN Networks Canberra Bureau Chief at the time, Laurie Oakes. In 1983, Jacki McDonald made Australian Television history of sorts, working and appearing on two opposition TV channels at the same time. She co-compered "Hey Hey it's Saturday" with Daryl Sommers on Channel 9 in Melbourne at the weekend while reading Channel 0 Eyewitness News in Brisbane during the week. However, the public didn't really relate to a comedienne reading the News and Jacki's tenure at the Brisbane Newsdesk did not last. Interestingly this was a time when 0-10 network stations had different news themes and openers. As far as I know this theme used by TVQ Channel 0 was not used by any other TEN Network station at the time. TEN 10 Sydney and ATV 10 Melbourne were using the "Move Closer to your World" theme.. I am not sure what SAS 10 in Adelaide was using at the time ?
