lets see if this uploads Lucille Ball, as Lucy, is forced to install a shower herself after she criticises the plumber doing it. Trivia - Lucille Ball nearly drowned in the shower making this episode, watch this clip, the first time she dives goes wrong, it's all there, the camera crew didn't notice... OH REALLY Lucille Ball later said she nearly drowned during the filming of this episode when she found herself unable turn upright in the tank of water. Aware of the situation, Vivian Vance pulled Lucy to the surface and then add-libbed until Lucy could catch her breath and resume her lines. The live audience thought this was all hysterically funny and was unaware of the severity of the situation. There just isn't enough space in a single bathroom for the five members of the Carmichael-Bagley household, thus Lucy (Lucille Ball) and Viv (Vivian Vance) decide to install an extra shower. Neighbor Harry (Dick Martin) arranges for a plumber to do the job cheap, only to have the plumber quit in disgust over Lucy's constant meddling. Clearly, there is no other alternative for the girls than to finish the job themselves. This is the notorious episode in which Vivian Vance actually rescues Lucille Ball from drowning while the cameras are rolling! Lucy and Viv are stuck in the shower as the water continually rises. Lucille Ball later stated that she nearly drowned during the filming of this episode, when she went to the bottom and found herself unable turn herself upright. Vivian Vance realized she was in trouble, and pulled Lucy up by her hair. Vance ad-libbed until Lucy could catch her breath and resume her lines. The near-disastrous moment was left in the episode and is widely considered the funniest of the show. Special Notes: The final scene (with the girls stuck in the shower as the water continually rises) was almost a physical disaster for Lucille. When she went down to the bottom of the shower, she couldn't get up again. Viv realized she was in trouble, and pulled her up by the roots of her hair. She then began doing all of the dialog, including Lucille's lines so that Lucille could catch a breath. The distressed look on Lucille's face was real. This episode is a classic, ranking almost anything Lucille had done in the past. While filming the 1963 episode "Lucy and Viv Put In A Shower", in which Lucy and Vivian attempt to install a shower (but become trapped inside, unable to shut the water off), Ball nearly drowned while performing in the tank of water. She was unable to bring herself back to the surface, and it was Vance who realized there was a problem and pulled her co-star to safety; Vance went on to ad lib until Ball could catch her breath to resume speaking her lines (all the while, cameras continued to film). Neither the film crew nor the live studio audience realized there was a problem. WHERE WHAT TIME IT DOESNT HAPPEN THE WAY IT IS DESCRIBED I D O N T S E E I T !
