Went to Kyoto and saw a performance in Gion's Gion Corner. this is the Kyogen performance. the plot of this play is that the Lord is going to a neighboring village for business and is afraid that his two servants, Taro and Jiro, will drink his sake in the stock house, so he decides to tie them up. Taro comes and figures out how to tie up Jiro, by asking him to show them a demonstration of cudgel play. Taro helps to tie up Jiro, then the Lord ties Taro up as well, and leaves. Taro and Jiro discuss how to steal the sake, and finally are able to drink it. they sing songs and dance, then the Lord comes back and finds them drunk. He stands behind them and reflects his face in the cup. The servants are surprised to see him in the cup, but think it is an illusion. The Lord reflects his face again, and seeing the Lord's face again, they exclaim "What a grim face our Lord has!" The Lord gets angry and beats them violently. They try to escape from their Lord, and he runs after them.
