A PRELIMINARY STORM SURVEY OF THE DAMAGE INCURRED ACROSS NORTHEAST COLBERT...EASTERN LAUDERDALE...AND EXTREME NORTHWEST LAWRENCE COUNTIES /ALABAMA/ HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL. THE EVENT OCCURRED THURSDAY...MAY 8 2008. INITIAL FINDINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS: * EVENT: TORNADO * LOCATION: LEIGHTON TO ROGERSVILLE, ALABAMA * ESTIMATED PEAK WIND: 125.0 MPH * PRELIMINARY RATING: EF-2 * PATH LENGTH: 9.6 MILES * MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH: 250 YARDS * SUMMARY: SURVEILLANCE CAMERA FROM AN EQUIPMENT COMPANY NORTHEAST OF LEIGHTON CAPTURED A TORNADO PICKING UP AT LEAST 2 CARS AND THROWING THEM NEARLY 40 FEET. LARGE TREES WERE SNAPPED AND UPROOTED NEAR FOSTERS MILL...ALONG COUNTY ROAD 40. JUST TO THE NORTHEAST OF FOSTERS MILL...SIGNIFICANT STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OCCURRED AT THE DOUBLEHEAD RESORT AND LODGE. A 2-STORY HOUSE WAS COMPLETELY LIFTED OFF ITS FOUNDATION AND MOVED NEARLY 20 FEET. THE ENTIRE WEST-FACING SIDE OF THIS HOUSE WAS RIPPED OFF ALONG WITH SIGNIFICANT ROOF DAMAGE. ADDITIONAL SPORADIC DAMAGE OCCURRED TO A GARAGE AND OTHER LARGE TREES FROM JOE WHEELER STATE PARK TO ROGERSVILLE. THESE FINDINGS ARE PRELIMINARY AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Gossip Girl is an American television teen drama inspired by the popular novel series of the same name, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Gossip Girl satirizes and revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York City's Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions while dealing with sex, drugs, jealousy, and other teenage issues. Each episode is narrated by omniscient yet unseen narrator "Gossip Girl" (voiced by Kristen Bell). Most of the main characters are private high school students, primarily consisting of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) and others. Their family members and other recurring characters play supporting roles in the series. The series first aired on September 18, 2007 in Canada on CTV before premiering in the U.S. a day later on The CW.[1][2] The show received the first full season order of 18 episodes of the 2007/2008 television season of the five major broadcast networks in October 2007.[3] Following the 20072008 Writers Guild of America strike, Gossip Girl returned on Monday, April 21, 2008 to close the first season.[4] In March 2008, The CW renewed Gossip Girl for a second season, which began on Labor Day of 2008.
