「真夏の出来事」平山三紀平山三紀(本名　平山美紀)は、'４９年８月２２日に東京都大田区で誕生。 '６９年に渡辺プロが経営する『銀座メイツ』で歌っていた処を日本コロムビアのディレクターがスカウト。唄っている、デモ・テープを聴いた筒美京平がユニークな声質に惚れ込み、橋本　淳(筒美と名コンビ)と共に全面的にプロデュースを引き受けました。レコードのデビューは、'７０年１１月１０日に日本コロムビアからリリースした「ビューティフル・ヨコハマ」です。 ※同レコード会社で筒美と橋本のコンビで大ヒットした、いしだあゆみの「ブルー・ライト・ヨコハマ」を意識(「ビューティフル・ヨコハマ」の方がダイナミック)した名曲。因みに、当初、平山三紀のデビュー楽曲は「真夏の出来事」のＢ面に収録されている「ブン・ブン」でした。第２弾が、'７１年５月２５日にリリースした楽曲がこの楽曲「真夏の出来事」です。こちらは、筒美京平が当初から『モータウンのシュープリームスのようなサウンドの感じにしたい』と云う意識に寄り、極上でステディなリズム・パターンが創られて見事大ヒット。この年のレコード大賞の、作曲賞を獲得しています。偉大な作曲家の筒美京平と、そして偉大な作詞家の橋本　淳の『秘蔵っ子(娘)』として、７０年代の歌謡ポップスの音楽シーンを語る上で欠かす事の出来ない歌手。
