Kunda Dixit, Editor of the Nepali Times speaks on "The Abolition of the Monarchy in Nepal." in an unusual event at the FCCT Across South and South-east Asia, the story of democracy continues to be a struggle on many fronts, sometimes pitting large sections of the public who yearn for it against members of the ruling elite who treat with contempt the political will of the people. Each narrative unfolding in a country's attempt to restore democracy or to save it from abuse is different from that of its neighbour. Those of us who have been living in Thailand since the country's 18th military coup, in September 2006, were witness to one such clash of ideas and wills. To broaden this understanding of Asian countries in transition towards democracy, the FCCT has the pleasure of hosting a panel discussion featuring respected editors of newspapers from three countries: Pakistan, Nepal and Indonesia. Such relevance has been generated by the recent assassination of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto, exposing the multiple tensions that plague that country, which has been under the grip of a military dictatorship for nearly a decade. In neighbouring Nepal, on the other hand, the dominant story is the push by the country's powerful political parties to abolish the 240-year-old monarchy, an act that has drawn interest in some of the other kingdoms across the region. Indonesia, by contrast, has generated interest for its mixed record towards democracy a decade after the Soeharto regime was turfed out by mass pro-democracy protests.

THE MONEY MASTERS is a 3 1/2 hour non-fiction, historical documentary that traces the origins of the political power structure that rules our nation and the world today. The modern political power structure has its roots in the hidden manipulation and accumulation of gold and other forms of money. The development of fractional reserve banking practices in the 17th century brought to a cunning sophistication the secret techniques initially used by goldsmiths fraudulently to accumulate wealth. With the formation of the privately-owned Bank of England in 1694, the yoke of economic slavery to a privately-owned "central" bank was first forced upon the backs of an entire nation, not removed but only made heavier with the passing of the three centuries to our day. Nation after nation, including America, has fallen prey to this cabal of international central bankers. The Fall of Constantinople refers to the capture of the Byzantine Empire's capital by the Ottoman Empire on Tuesday, May 29, 1453. The event marked the end of the political independence of the millennium-old Byzantine Empire, which was by then already fragmented into several Greek monarchies. Most importantly, the fall of Constantinople accelerated the scholarly exodus of Byzantine Greeks which caused the influx of Classical Greek Studies into the European Renaissance. In addition, it played a crucial role in Ottoman political stability and its subsequent expansion in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. The date of the event is one of the frequently proposed events marking the end of the Middle Ages as a historical period. Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han: (Ottoman Turkish: محمد ثانى Meḥmed-i sānī, Turkish: II. Mehmet), (also known as el-Fatih (الفاتح), "the Conqueror", in Ottoman Turkish, or, in modern Turkish, Fatih Sultan Mehmet) (March 30, 1432 -- May 3, 1481) was Sultan of the Ottoman Empire for a short time from 1444 to 1446, and later from 1451 to 1481. At the age of 21, he conquered Constantinople(Istanbul), bringing an end to the medieval Byzantine Empire. From this point onward, he claimed the title of Caesar in addition to his other titles.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that the Federal Reserve Act, conceived in deceit, is dedicated to the proposition that all men are slaves to the money masters. Federal Reserve Act - passed by 3 (yep, THREE!!!!) senators in a unanimous voice vote on 23 December 1913 - while everyone else was home for the holidays. In the end, President Wilson realized how he was deceived into ruining his country. Hear about it here. Clip from "The Money Masters." (written by Greg Graffin and Brett Gurewitz) Types of government Monarchy - Rule by an individual who has inherited the role and expects to bequeath it to their heir.[5] Despotism - Rule by a single leader, all his or her subjects are considered his or her slaves. Dictatorship - Rule by an individual who has full power over the country.[6] See also Autocracy and Stratocracy. Oligarchy - Rule by a small group of people who share similar interests or family relations.[7] Plutocracy - A government composed of the wealthy class. Democracy - Rule by a government where the people as a whole hold the power. It may be exercised by them (direct democracy), or through representatives chosen by them (representative democracy).[8][9][10] Theocracy - Rule by a religious elite.[11] Anarchy - A lack of government.[12][13] Some countries have hybrid forms of Government such as modern Iran with its combination of democratic and theocratic institutions, and constitutional monarchies such as The Netherlands combine elements of monarchy and democracy.[14][15] For many thousands of years, humans lived in small, "relatively non-hierarchical" and mostly self-sufficient communities. However, the human ability to precisely communicate abstract, learned information allowed humans to become ever more effective at agriculture,[16] and that allowed for ever increasing population densities.[17] David Christian explains how this resulted in states with laws and governments: As farming populations gathered in larger and denser communities, interactions between different groups increased and the social pressure rose until, in a striking parallel with star formation, new structures suddenly appeared, together with a new level of complexity. Like stars, cities and states reorganize and energize the smaller objects within their gravitational field.

In the 11th century, monarchies weakened and the local feudal lords grew stronger. The first knights simply protected their lord's domains, but with the reforms of late 11th century, knights also protected the peace. They fought against heresy in the name of God. One company of knights was said to be invincible due to two men: Leon Belmont, a baron who feared nothing and was a masterful warrior. And his most trusted long-time friend, Mathias Cronqvist - a genius tactician whose education made him an exception in a largely illiterate society.
