If you look at the previous 2 laps (i.e at 400m and 800m gone) the clock stops at the start line, which is the second "curve" about 4m further on. The 1200m time was thus about 2:56.0, meaning he ran the penultimate curve (from 1100 to 1200m) in about 12.7. Still very impressive!
