Oct 14, 2008 - You said something about the "Oxygen tanks" and making them lighter a couple weeks ago. The ones you see in the video are actually aluminum and then are fiber glass wrapped. Those SCBA's are actually quite a few years old. Now most manufactures actually do make them aluminum carbon wrapped. And that does cut down on the weight a lot. Also the tanks are not filled with Oxygen because Oxygen is flamable and that would not be smart, them are filled with normal compressed air.

Firefighting is a science and fire is something that takes years of first hand expirence to understand and predict. Firefighters are some of the smartest people that you will ever see.
