Nov 21, 2008 - That's absolute baloney! Gary Jules is a joke compared to Tears 4 Fears. 30 years ago, these beats/synths were creepy and mind blowing. All Gary Jules did was slow it down about 20 bpm, but there's no way you can claim it to be better because he didn't write the amazing lyrics!

Nov 21, 2008 - Its all a matter of opinion i guess. To me, the Jules version simply showcases and highlights the exceptional lyrics tears wrote. I think their version is so busy it distracts from the lyrics. sometimes simple is better. but in the 80's, this style would have sold better- so i can see why they chose this approach.
