Nov 19, 2008 - 25 pages? Wow. Did you also include the four elements of Hiphop being DJing, MCing, Breakdancing, and Graffiti? Did you add in the different sub genres, like Political Rap, Conscience Rap, Gangster Rap, Electro, Underground, Mainstream, Club Music, Crunk, Snap, etc? Did you add in the differences between East Coast Rap, West Coast Rap, Southern Rap, and Midwestern? What about symbolisms, metaphorical basis, rhyme scheming, and wordplay? There's alot that goes into the music. Not just negativity.

Nov 19, 2008 - i know a lot goes in to this music, nevertheless my thesis was something to the effect of "the intended and unintended consequences of rap on todays society", the causuality (not correlation) of rap to violence, treatment of women, and sale of illegal narcotics, even just a glorification of illegitimate life style is commonplace. before you comment back to talk specifics...
bcr2070 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - contin. nawledge. i took a macro approach to the paper. not a micro approach. i took into account the overall genre of rap/hip hop which have sub categories and have differences but stem from the same source. example. say i write about christianity...well i can include information about baptists, catholics, methodists, so forth and so on, and it is completely relevant to the subject.
Nawledge1 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - The source of Hiphop IS NOT criminality. That right there makes your thesis invalid. Like I said, the core roots of rap/hiphop is art and community. Realizing we're the same, in all our differences. What you see today stemmed from THAT source. It was meant for self expression, even if its anger. And thats where Ganster Rap comes along. Ganster Rap actually didnt start off talking about killing people, selling drugs, and disrespecting women. It was letting the voice of the ghettos be heard.

bcr2070 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - exactly that is what the source is. the source had unintended consiquences on the evolution of the genre, and the evolution of the genre had unintended consiquences on society. there is no blame game being played just cause and effect

Nov 19, 2008 - And thats why I get pissed. If a person is educated, why dont they educate themselves on Hiphop before making a perception? They dont even understand the hard work and passion that goes into it. Why make the assumption? And these people only speak about what they've been through or how they feel on certain matters. Yeah, they have an attitude about it. So does Rock. Not only that, we're forgetting that these guys are ENTERTAINERS also. They never said they wanted to be role models.
