STORY: The Maoists stormed Jhajha railway station on the New Delhi-Howrah line in the Jamui district at around 5 a.m. They blew up the railway police station with dynamite. They also looted a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the railway police station. [Ashok Mandal, Government Railway Police]: "There were around 150 to 200. They started firing indiscriminately. People were forced to leave the junction. Three policemen, one porter and two Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) officials were killed. They looted all things belonging to the Government Railway Police (GRP)." The superintendent of police says that the investigations are on. He added that the officials at the railway junction were not ready for the attack of such magnitude. The attack brought the rail traffic to a halt and several important trains including the Rajdhani Express were held up at different points as a security measure. The Maoists operate out of jungle bases across 13 Indian states running up the eastern sections of the country.
