Sep 9, 2008 - If we go with the Fed's non-accounting type of accounting, the public still owns the majority of the roughly $9T. As of 6/08, it was something like $5.2T held by the public, $0.6T held by Fed. Res. Banks, .... Regardless, to the extent the Fed DOES borrow from the fed -- IS the majority holder -- that's called "monetiziing" the debt, which is generally considered the "end game" for a dying currency.

Sep 20, 2008 - America's bolshevik trio, Bush/Bernanke/Paulson, just added another $1,000,000,000,000 this week by socializing the mortgage and insurance industries. So it's actually $54 trillion now.

Oct 2, 2008 - As a Canadian, I spend a lot of time worrying about the US invading us to grab our resources. It just seems like the sort of thing the US would do. Americans, please let me know if I'm wrong and that you are above this level morally. I would like to think so, but your recent behaviour and a perceived prevalence of xenophobic attitudes (or downright hostility) to non-"Americans" is disturbing. Please feel free to buy our resources, but if the price goes up too much, that's just "the market".

Oct 3, 2008 - It's a good thing for Mexico that we are building that wall along the border, to protect them from the exodus of illegal Americanos that pour in when our economy collapses. Of course, they will probably be happy to have a few of us to work in their meat processing plants, as domestic servants and other places that require back breaking and unpleasant work.

Oct 4, 2008 - i predict we will have another great depression before or around 2020. thats when China will probably become the worlds reserve currency and wont depend us that much.
Historiocality Says:
Oct 6, 2008 - No the US will not invade. Your leaders will sell you to us. Ever hear of the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America"? Look it up. Same with Mexico. And its only the top echelon that wants it.

Oct 7, 2008 - Well, you yanks will do fine, at least for another 10, 20 years before your lose your technological advantage. The only thing generating real wealth in your country is your tech industry, oh and your weapons industry of course, and plenty of real money are still coming out of those places. Of course, the trick is to keep trying to socially destabilizing all your competitors, that's why you just love spreading democracy don't you? political instability = one less competition.

Oct 12, 2008 - Everything you said is the truth. It was not this bad before George took office. He stole about 4 trillion dollars to give to his buddies via various war contracts for Halliburton, KBR, etc. The problem still existed but was half as bad before the republicans took over.
BoobyTubenevky Says:

Oct 31, 2008 - social security is one of USA "4deficits",acording to the movie. I think the others solve by internal strong economic politics. But,i think, the BIGGEST problem u have isnt the credit crunch but inflation of your currency, that 700B Bailout full applied will worst it...in my opinion u should stop your legislate in the that u federal reserve to produce currency. Your Federal Reserve has way to much power on americans and each time they low interest rates, curios(or not)inflation rises.
2buckchuk Says:

Sep 9, 2008 - the majority of the debt is owned by the federal reserve, the US government sells bonds cover it's deficit spending, but if there isn't sufficient demand from like you said, investors, 401K's, and other countries, then the federal reserve buys them, i think of the 9 something trillion in government debt, the fed owns about 5 trillion of it.
