Aug 11, 2008 - its freaking exciting. no lie man. i can relate. i fence.

forSPARTAz Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - exactly.

gtmcc01 Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - what sucked about my early fencing days is that I had a bad messed up knee. what rocks is that I can finally resume it in my college club fencing. who needs track?

locovan666 Says:

Aug 17, 2008 - you focus very intensely... each point is like that

madmanis12345 Says:

Aug 18, 2008 - where are u suppose to hit your opponent in fencing?

DJAllieAlex Says:

Aug 19, 2008 - i think its anywhere waist and above i dunno dont fence

watawatan0w Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - dangit you guys are lucky you can do it in school..i cant i do it in a busted stadium.

homfencing Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - The valid target area varies from weapon to weapon. In foil it's the torso and crotch...the part covered by the metallic vest (called a lame'). Epee is the entire body, from head to toes. Sabre is everything from the waist up (except for the hands...target stops at the bony part of the wrist)

Aug 27, 2008 - I still dont get why they have that thing attached to thier back....btw i never saw fencing before

JHN9048 Says:

Sep 2, 2008 - the ting on thier back is attached to thier sword, so when they score a point, it makes a noise so you know who got the point first.

SKStylez Says:

Sep 13, 2008 - never seen fencing... i thought it would be more exciting..... it also seems cooler to use a more firm object cuz it seems way too offensive if its bendy

Blad0506 Says:

Sep 17, 2008 - It's very exciting when you're the person fencing, not watching. You have to think really fast what to do, and need to react pretty fast to each opponent's movement. And this weapon is called "Foil" or "Fleuret", there are 3 different weapons: Foil, Sabre, Epee This is foil, it's about hitting your opponent's body ( chest, upper shoulders, back, stomach) if the blade were too hard it will hurt your opponent.

SKStylez Says:

Sep 18, 2008 - i know, but not if it wasn't a sharp edge

cwiskey Says:

Oct 5, 2008 - you should watch epee fencing.. it's quite different, it's the heaviest weapon and isn't as flimsy as foil

schokoprinz Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - ganeev's flick to the back at 1:48 is gorgeous. i mean going around his arm, thats incredible.

protiiooi Says:

Oct 30, 2008 - do the olympic fencers have more bendy swords? my sword can't seem to bend enough to do a flick no matter how hard i try.

STOPm3323 Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - Well yes and no Foil is much or flexible that an Epee And these high rollers have the highest quality of blade that is incredibly light and flexible

TentacleSex Says:

Nov 13, 2008 - the end one was super cool

Voiv Says:

Nov 16, 2008 - Its not that their foils/epees are so bendy, its just that their arms are so strong and their moving them so fast that they move much more then someone who doesn't do that much

Voiv Says:

Nov 16, 2008 - Oh and also, just remembered, this is 2004 back when flicking was easier to achieve (the timings changed, and the amount of time the tip needs to be pressed down for increased) So I suppose the foils were probably maybe more geared towards flickiness

HwarangOfFaith Says:

Nov 17, 2008 - wats the usefulness in fencing? i mean whats the history behind it? was it a real sword style? cuz while it has such reach advantage what can such thin, weak blade do to a protective armor? or shields for that matter.

Voiv Says:

Nov 24, 2008 - Its a sport which has developed from a fighting style, the similarities are quite hard to see nowadays. But its purpose right now is athletic competition, you may as well be asking what the usefulness of football or tennis is.

HwarangOfFaith Says:

Nov 24, 2008 - ahh i see, thanks. lol yea i guess it's like askin the usefulness of tennis and football :P
