Nov 25, 2008 - I wonder if Paul Peterson members sing this? I'd be curious how he was able to pull off the last few seconds; ie, quivery tears...looks so genuine.
speckintime Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - Those were the days when we really believed in love and it still brings tears to my eyes like it did when it was aired.

Dec 18, 2008 - paul said he cant sing this song anymore because his real dad and his tv dad are no longer living [carl betz did a made for tv movie where he played a doctor in research who wanted to have more contact with people so he took a job in an emergency room but had trouble dealing with patients suffering.
leojrevlis Says:
Dec 18, 2008 - When did he say that? What's Carl's movie got to do with anything? I'm not being a dick.. I just never heard or read that stuff about Paul.

Dec 21, 2008 - Where are we, on the planet "CornBall"?
leojrevlis Says:
Dec 21, 2008 - Wow.. you're scary! Ya don't even know what planet you live on. But seriously, this clip is a part of sit-com history. Every teenage girl [and their mothers] balled their eyes out watching this episode! Go figure?!?!
BakAtDarkCorner Says:
Dec 23, 2008 - why are the girls in black and white but the boy is in Sapia
nomiclas Says:
Dec 24, 2008 - mrfungo,were you a test tube baby?
leojrevlis Says:
Dec 24, 2008 - It's SEPIA, pronounced SEEP'-E-a. It's not just the girls ... Everything except "Jeff" is in B&W. It's artistic [accenting "the boy"]. At least, THAT'S what I think!
yowzephyr Says:
Dec 25, 2008 - The performances of these two actors, here playing father and son, reminds us of what a difficult, humiliating job acting can be. Many people lambast actors for being narcissistic and shallow. But let's give actors their props for the lonely, hellish exhibitionism they put themselves thru in order to entertain us.
ellyc19111 Says:
Dec 26, 2008 - What'd they do? Spray the tears into their own eyes? Anybody with a heart would find that song touching, regardless of who sang it. Nine times out of ten Paul Peterson sang it mainly because his sister Mary sang Johnny Angel on the same show. That one caught on, the other one didn't. Heffac, I'm sorry for your loss. I never knew mine.
kaydawn1969 Says:
Dec 26, 2008 - My dad is dying of lung cancer. To hear this song, and to think of him and all he has done was great. Thank you for putting this up. I for one am glad
invicta62 Says:
Dec 31, 2008 - What planet are we on????? This is when America was America, not what it is today!
jmmmccc Says:
Jan 1, 2009 - Amen to that Evicta. We had it so much better growing up in the 50's, 60's. The music, people were friendly, no hip hop idiots, thinking there are above it all.
catheyeluvsmusic Says:
Jan 2, 2009 - Dads-- you only get one. Lovely. Thanks for posting.
leojrevlis Says:
Jan 2, 2009 - ellyc, I understand what you mean, even though you confused the characters with the actors playing them. Colpix [records] placed both Shelley & Paul under contract. The show was used to promote both songs. "Johnny Angel" became the bigger hit, although "My Dad" did okay on the charts. These guys are ACTING, probably not even in the same room at the same time, so I don't buy-in to the "emotion" thing that some have commented about. So YES, the song is touching, no matter who's singing it.
ellyc19111 Says:
Jan 4, 2009 - You're right leojervis. Never thought of it that way, in the contract label sense.I guess that also explains the sepia tone and the regular black & white. But..it's still so touching to see the tears in all their eyes.
hpunksterm Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Oh nevermind, it says Paul Petersen, lol. Is he still around these days??
