Dec 2, 2008 - It sounded like he was singing with a lower voice than usually, comparing it to other versions of his Nessun Dorma. Maybe it has to do with his disease or the cold air

Dec 4, 2008 - Difficult to realize that the magnificent flame of operatic mastery that was Pavarotti was about to burn out. I don't believe that I've heard him perform a more riveting version of this great operatic tune. Having said that I can see a difference in his eyes Not the Pavarotti look. Life is ebbing here.

Dec 4, 2008 - un'esibizione che mi lascia sempre senza respiro...grande Luciano
FF12GrandMaster Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - jwilharm is correct. This performance was recorded weeks before the ceremony because it would simply be too cold for Pavarotti to perform in his state of health. He turned down this invite to sing at the opening ceremony many times but finally agreed when they allowed him to pre-record it. The Orchestra pretended to play, he conductor pretended to conduct and Pavarotti pretended to sing. Anyone who disbelieves this should look up Luciano Pavarotti in the Wiki where you will find full details.
