Iraqi-born Chicago-based artist Wafaa Bilal interviewed after his show called Virtual Jihadi at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was "suspended" and he was shut out of the arts building. The art piece consists of a hacked video Al Qaeda video game called Night of Bush Hunting. The artist inserted himself as a virtual suicide bomber as a way of referencing his own anger and despair over his brother and father's death during the American occupation as well as the anger and despair of Iraqis who have lost control of their lives.

Mar 10, 2008 - This is coming from a person whose entire contribution to YouTube is a video called "Islamic Auto Club," with the insightful comment that "these people" are "morons" who probably "tried to fuel it with camel dung." Calling Mr. Bilal a "savage" is amazing coming from someone like you, who peddles base racism as your particular brand of "art."

glumplglump Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - How easy it is to judge people before knowing the whole story. It is obvious Mr. Bilal is an intelligent, articulate, non-violent artist. He is illustrating a point NOT creating anti-American propaganda. I took time reviewing some of his other work and was questioning my own stereotypes I place on Iraqi people. If you are seeing this video without knowing a thing about Bilal I encourage you to find out more. You might be surprised how easy you can typecast Iraqi's as terrorists.

RPIfireman Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - Al Qaeda should sue him for plagiarism.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - Translation: since I cannot the FACTS of Bilal's plagiarism and the words used by the little terrorist wannabee hinself, I will simply resort to ad hominem attacks. Just another call from the tired old liberal playbook.

pennyjupiter Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - This might also be from my dog-eared copy of my "liberal playbook," Phana24JeffG, but you really need to go back to elementary school so you can learn how to spell and put together sentences in English.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 13, 2008 - Oops. Looks like the Sanctuary for Moonbats had to shut down the Muzzie. One would think they would resolve their building code issues prior to hosting an "in your face" exposition of a terrorist wannabee.

pennyjupiter Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - A protest is planned right in front of City Hall Tuesday March 18 at 5:30pm. Please come and show your support for free speech and the arts in Troy, and speak out against the bullies in Troy who use their public offices to silence those they don't agree with. FREE TROY!!!

UAC4America Says:

Mar 16, 2008 - hahaha access denied, awesome. Too funny Bilal. You ever stop to think that maybe you're in the wrong country and you should go back to join Al-Qa'eda? This isn't the place for you if you want to preach your Islamist propaganda. lol

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 16, 2008 - Do you also plan to speak out about the RPI college Republicans who had their website shut down for no good reason?

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 16, 2008 - It was disgusting. When a number of very peaceful Americans came to protest the little terrorist wannabee, even when the WOMEN called him out, he hid inside. Pathetic little Islamic "warrior."

ludacris6924 Says:

Mar 18, 2008 - Jesus Christ. I stumbled onto this video after hearing about it on campus, and after reading these comments, I shudder to think of these close-minded people who are labeling him a "savage" and a terrorist. I must have been naive to think that the people of our country have become insightful and intelligent. This is blatant censorship from RPI, and everyone who is labeling him a terrorist is completely missing the point.

ludacris6924 Says:

Mar 18, 2008 - Just wondering why you emphasize that women called him out, as opposed to anyone calling him out. I'm not pulling a feminist card here, but since you seem to be typecasting, I'll join in: you seem to be giving off negative vibes towards women. And, since I'm on the subject of typecasting, we could all look at your list of hobbies and interests and make some assumptions about you that have negative connotations. You sound as if you were brainwashed, and I sigh to think that there are more of you.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 19, 2008 - Exactly how is this censorship? The First Amendment only applies to government, not private institutions. In case no one ever informed you, your right to free speech is not unlimited. I find it very interesting that you say NOTHING about RPI suspending the college Republican's website. I guess your definition of censorship does not include that directed at your political opponents.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Sparky, I have forgotten more about the First Amendment than you will ever know. Where did I suggest that RPI was in violation of the First Amendment. I was merely pointing out the same unique "coincidence" of the shutdown of the student's website. The moonbats are perfectly free to let the little primitive savage have his "art" show, provided they comply with the same building codes I must comply with in Troy.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Good point, Cris. Very few people are capable of understanding the nuances of NASCAR, and even fewer have knowledge of military science. After all, to properly understand the development of a NASCAR race, a good grasp of aerodynamics, material science, and automotive engineering is essential. Perhaps that explains why so few liberals are NASCAR fans, the sport is simply too complex for fine arts and poly sci majors to begin to comprehend.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Hey moonbats, have you seen the latest proposal from your terrorist-loving hero Waffle-Boy? He is now proposing waterboarding a dog. Planning on sponsoring this show?

jimfinn1968 Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Irony is not easy to understand. You have to work at it.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Glad you decided to jump in. First, I wanted to congratuate you for making reasonably objective videos with both sides of the issue. While you were not bias-free, you did a much better job than the drive-by media. I must confess that while I am quite intelligent, I am a redneck, which means by definition, I have a glorious lack of sophistication. The irony does escape me.

jimfinn1968 Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Fair enough. Dog or iraqi waterboarding of course is insane. It's meant to shock the audience with the horrific suggestion of torturing an animal, which then makes the audience think about the reality of torturing a human.

jimfinn1968 Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - I would also like to comment on your comment about my fairness. I don't think its my position to raise up Wafaa Bilal as some kind of art martyr, and actually my opinion of the art work is irrelevant. Free speech is not always pretty. I have strong views and am not thrilled to hear opposite views every night on TV, across the internet and on the streets (a guy with a Nazi tatoo walked by me the other day here in upstate NY). As Don Rumsfeld says, democracies are messy. We have to deal with it.

Phana24JeffG Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - I have no problem with Waffle Boy spreading whatever message he desires, provided it does not incite vioence, libel or slander non-public figures, etc. I also believe that cracking down with the Building Code was not a good idea. While legal, it gave Waffle Boy more publicity, the Sanctuary sympathy, and was a poor political tactic, and the TIMING gives me some First Amendment concerns.

facingtheplastic Says:

Mar 30, 2008 - Bilal, you are amazing.

xtremerace Says:

Jul 5, 2008 - WTF, so one way bashing is allowed but not other way around.

xtremerace Says:

Jul 5, 2008 - Bush killed a million people in Iraq. Dude how would you feel if someone killed your relative , friend or something. how hard is that understand you dumbfucks out there.
