Jun 28, 2008 - Yeah whats even more fucked up is they were like the only successful metal band to emerge from god forsaken WV ( which is were I am, the armpit of society) and had a real great shot of being something huge in metal ,but too much ego floating in that band to do anything more than 3 albums. Lots of my friends know these guys personally, they've all said OJ is just a prick to his band and fans anymore. Which sucks because I really liked Byzantine

Jul 4, 2008 - dude lots of famous people from here, Blackstone cherry, chum ( who used to be on mtv a long time ago in the 90's), byzantine (of course), zeroking is pretty big now, bloodblisters are big in the goth scene, boba flex, and i can name a lot more especially in some of the other musical genres.

stacyjimmy Says:

Jul 4, 2008 - btw anyone know if the one guy from the band still delivers pizza here in wv anymore?

rocknguy Says:

Jul 4, 2008 - I have known OJ since the days of National Record Mart in Charleston. He gave us the first demos which I still have my original copy. They played our Tool release party when they didnt have a drummer, just the drum machine. Hes a great talented guy, not a prick. Matt Wolf is a great talent as well as great guy. Tony, you couldnt ask for a nicer guy. As far as success, yes they had some. People thought they were riding in limos, get real. They had a shitty indie label, who could have cared less.

ProstheticRecords Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - We still care, friend. There's no money in heavy metal.

rocknguy Says:

Jul 8, 2008 - I guess a subgenre is harder to market these days. I dont think thats there not a chance to make money. If its so hard, how come they didnt get put on Ozzfest over a better looking more "marketable band". I just find that a bit odd? I didnt say you didnt help but seems to me from what I heard, the moneymaker hit the second stage and they were relegated to slug around in a shitty van. It may not be radio friendly ,but it makes me wonder if thier IMAGE did not fit with the label?

ProstheticRecords Says:

Jul 8, 2008 - We don't have an image our bands need to fulfill. The Byzantine dudes are great guys and they've made three awesome records for us, there's just a lot of work involved from many different places and a little bit of luck for a band to ascend above the 'touring in a van' atmosphere. Regardless, we're proud to have been involved with Byzantine's last three albums and hope you guys have enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy, listening to them.

Sep 15, 2008 - To be honest, I envy and worship Byzantine for everything they have accomplished. Having been part of several metal projects that have failed myself, its great to even have that chance to put your product out there for even 1 CD let alone 3. Placing the blame on the label itself is poor judgement as they do what they can. Sometimes the band needs to take that extra initiative. I respect the hell out of Byzantine and Prosthetic alike, and always will for the memories. Cheers guys.
