This is the trailer for the first volume in Masakazu Ito's "My Repertoire" video series. In Volume I, Masa performs "Capricho Árabe" by Francisco Tárrega, followed by extensive analysis in a master class setting. Do you want to play Capricho Árabe well? Are you questioning your effectiveness, especially in the difficult passages? Would you make faster progress with expert guidance? If so, this essential volume belongs in your library. The master class includes 70 minutes of comprehensive, insightful instruction. Masa carefully examines every part of Tárrega's famous composition, measure by measure. Follow his musical analysis effortlessly using the interactive score above his shoulder. Focus is placed on isolation strategies and other learning techniques all students benefit from, regardless of level. Masa emphasizes the fundamental importance of playing in time, teaching proper tempo rubato. Much attention is given to interpreting Tárrega's intentions, particularly in the challenging passages, on fingering, shifts and other techniques needed to play Capricho Árabe successfully. Masakazu Ito is recognized as one of today's top guitarists, acclaimed by musicians, composers, conductors and critics for his mastery of the instrument and its repertoire. Ito is an international performer, teacher, composer and recording artist. He currently holds a teaching position at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, where he received a master's degree under the guidance of Ricardo Iznaola.

Jun 17, 2007 - what was the song playing at the start before the main song?
SonataSystems Says:
Jun 17, 2007 - The Sonata Systems title music is the theme from "Memories of the Wind", an original composition by Masakazu Ito, sampled from his "Intimate Guitar" CD. The main title theme music is "Mt. Princeton", another original composition by Ito, sampled from the same 1996 recording. Visit his website to review the entire discography, including several beautiful and deceptively complex compositions for guitar by Masakazu Ito.

Jun 24, 2007 - Very relaxed setting. Liked how he counted time while performing the most difficult passage as well...

Jul 29, 2007 - The DVD came in the mail yesterday and I'm thoroughly enjoying his musicality, especially his thoughts on rubato.
PainterlyTheme Says:
Jul 30, 2007 - The trailer doesn't do him justice and I'm exhausted, having just went throuh the entire thing this weekend... and the "inverted" isolation really does help!
DaintyFeet Says:
Jul 31, 2007 - Yes, that was impressive. Many, many examples out there with bad rubato, playing way out of time, etc.

Comunque a me piace a questa velocità!
