Sep 11, 2008 - Great video, Armenians have contributed much to the world in the fields of Science, Art and world culture. There is one athlete in this video, however, who is not Armenian. Andre Agassi was born to an Assyrian father from Iran and an American mother.

Sep 13, 2008 - I think it is a good video we should help him not only mentioning the names of the missing athletes but by sending him their pics & profile :)
FamousArmenians Says:
Sep 17, 2008 - Andre Agassi himself stated that his father was ARMENIAN. He said that during an interview with Larry King on 9/7/2006. You can read the full transcript on CNN's website. Here is what he said: KING: The name Agassi is what derivation? AGASSI: Armenian, so my father was from Armenia and his parents sort of settled in Tehran.
FamousArmenians Says:
Sep 17, 2008 - BTW--Agassi's Armenian father was famous in his own right. He was Emmanuel Aghassian (known as Mike Agassi) and boxed for Iran in the Olympics.
AssyrianAmerican100 Says:
Sep 18, 2008 - I stand corrected. Thank you for the information, I had assumed that he was Assyrian, simply because Agassi is a common last name among Iranian Assyrians.

Wakuwaku2 Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - Your reasoning doesn't make sense. You say that Nalbandian is armenian just because his grandfather is armenian? Both of his parents were born in Argentina, he was born in Argentina. Almost every argentine has a grandfather from a different country, that doesn't change the fact that they are argentines. In sports, and in every other aspect of his life, Nalbandian represents Argentina, not Armenia. To call him an "armenian athlete" is not only wrong, but disrespectful.
