Nov 9, 2008 - Reminds me a lot of the ending of Streetcar Named Desire, the similar fate that finds Blanche Dubois. Vivien and Gloria both did good job.

Nov 12, 2008 - i tell ya, it doesn't get anymore perfect than this! flawless, unequalled and superb! OhNoItsGojira you used the perfect word IMPECCABLE. I just love Billy Wilder and his sharp attention to detail; all of his films are witty and wise.

Nov 13, 2008 - think the musical's better... and this scene in particular seems better developed. in the musical norma is much more tragic and the insanity is very dramatically set, whereas in the movie she just seems a loony and even somewhat ridiculous...

Nov 14, 2008 - Reminds me of Sarah Palin.

Nov 21, 2008 - I thought she was terrible in this film. I've never seen so much over-acting. Maybe because she came from silent films and this wasn't her forte, but then why use her as the lead in this movie?? hatever the reason I think the movie suffered for it. Her accent and phrasing are extremely annoying. The only thing about her is that she does look freaky. Great storyline though! I bet there's many Hollywood stars that end up like this.

Nov 23, 2008 - She's supposed to totally overact. Have you ever seen either the show or the movie? That's part of the character. She's suppose to be annoying.
HouseOnSunset Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - I agree, the character is handled much better in the musical... As for her mad scene in the stage show, it was supposed to be "bigger," since the movie version just wouldn't wor on stage.
HouseOnSunset Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - Scarlett, you're an idiot.
HouseOnSunset Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - Yes, I always thought Billy Wilder "borrowed" the ending from Streetcar...
scarlett72nd Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - No. just because someone doesn't agree with you you call them an idiot? Very mature. You're showing yourself to be an idiot because you cannot have a mature discussion or put an argument across, you have to resort to insults. How very sad. If you can't be mature then just give me a thumbs down but keep your insults to yourself.
HouseOnSunset Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - And yet, at the end of the day, you're still an idiot.
Songko25492 Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - Are U kidding??? This one made in 1950, so it's truly classic, Streetcar made in 1951... So, I think Streetcar "borrowed" from this masterpiece...
MaskedLion Says:
Dec 2, 2008 - I think you should re-watch the movie. She was playing the character perfectly. Sunset would not be what it is today if it wasn't for Gloria. She created the character in her own way. Norma Desmond is supposed to be overdone, She is supposed to be bigger than life. That is the point. I am sorry you find her performance not to your taste, but I adore her and this film. There is a book called "Spotlight on Sunset Boulevard" which everyone who loves this movie should read.
CherryGarrard Says:
Dec 2, 2008 - I agree with HouseOnSunset. Those "just because you disagree with me doesn't make me an idiot" comments are really annoying. Scarlett IS an idiot. THE WHOLE POINT of the movie is that she's a faded silent screen goddess who can't cope and doesn't fit in the real world.
HouseOnSunset Says:
Dec 2, 2008 - Yeees... But the PLAY "A Streetcar Named Desire" was written in the forties. Do some research, sheesh!
