Nov 17, 2008 - Genesis was at their best before Peter and Phil split... Phil took Genesis down the path of commercial/pop - didn't like it. Now the early days... with Peter... they were unbelievable, I saw them 3x's in the early to mid 70's - possibly my best concerts ever!

Nov 17, 2008 - when was this... does anyone know? Peter oh so young and cute. His vocals ... and the interaction of all... this is the Genesis I so know and love!

Nov 18, 2008 - Phil did, however, do a fantastic job taking the reigns from Gabriel with Trick of the Tail. That is still one of my favorite Genesis albums, although works like "Can Utility and the Coastliners" are timeless and magical. Executed with theory and profound thoughtful lyricism in mind.

Nov 19, 2008 - Genesis with Gabriel was a truly unique band; their concerts were truly unforgettable. I was very pleasantly surprised when "Trick of the Tail" came out and was as good as it was. The one after, "Wind and Wuthering," was in my view the last great Genesis album. After that it got poppier and, while still good, it was never the same.

Nov 21, 2008 - He did, but nothing lasts forever and Peter was always gonna be a solo artist. The second Genesis and after were also very good at what they did. Although I agree with you (as I'm sure most people any real taste) would, that Gabriel Genesis was the biz, the sound and musicianship on the following albums is pretty smart too. Anyone here into Porcupine Tree?

Nov 28, 2008 - I love how Steve Hackett moves his hands so much on the fretboard :-) Part of his style I am sure. Genesis is famous for having a 3 guitars combination. Boy I miss the original formation.
