Aug 26, 2008 - It's not like that at all: The further and longer we away from Africa, we get whiter and SISSIER - that's a fact. Black->brown->chocolate then white then yellow then extinct[Japan] Some serrious thinking here:)

Aug 27, 2008 - Some black women have prided themselves in claiming their weaves are "human hair." OK, but it's still asian hair or something else other than a black person's hair. As a black man, I find it quite disturbing when I see Asian hair, white hair, etc. weaved over a black woman's head. The socio-psychological implication is embarassing. I have an upcoming documentary that will illustrate this. Feel free to weave, braid, & do whatever you want, but maintain and use your own hair, black women.

Aug 27, 2008 - This is an absolute classic from Bilal. Soul Sister in many ways: soul as in EXISTENTIALIST CONNECTION; soul as in SOUL MUSIC; soul as in LOVE; soul as in SISTER . . . Soul Sista.

Aug 27, 2008 - White women where wigs and weaves without having a word said about it. Black women and Asian women developed the technology for it. Yet if they where it they are criticized. As a black woman I hate that. I feel that I have the right to where what I want to just like white women do. People like you do nothing but mentally abuse me and others because you are not happy with your self. You are a self hater in your own way. You hate your people. You hate black women. God will deal with this soon.

Aug 27, 2008 - dont worry babygirl. Im a proud black afrocentric man and I love and appreciate African queens like u. U are Mother earth u are the beautiful creation and God's poetry that is the nearest vision of perfection that the human race can comprehend. I got ur back sista ;)
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - Thank you for that love. I am a dahomey initiate, I wear Erzilie Freda like Mary J Blige and Tyra Banks, Ru Paul , Beyonce, Tina Turner, People think that I am trying to be white and it is hysterical to me because the look I wear represents my worship of my African Ancestors. It is my joi de vivre. It is so funny. Africans get it when they see me. They say Oshun or Ezilie. They know what it is all about. American folks miss the point. We are deep. Deeper than hair and complexion.
sjragin Says:
Aug 28, 2008 - Yea honey. Our roots run very DEEP. I feel your pain. African empresses have been mistreated for so many years BY THIER OWN SONS ESPECIALLY. Im a young cat and its such a pity that so many other young brothas wont wake up and appreciate natural beauty of black love. Im glad you know who you are and for that you will live a blessed life.
bizarreworld123 Says:
Aug 28, 2008 - If your Erzilie Freda makes you white, then there is a problem. How did Erzilie Freda end up that way? If the demonstration of your beliefs are not rooted in your identity, there will be problems. Whites know this. Why do you think they fabricated the image of Jesus to look like them? So why is Erzilie Freda portrayed as white Mary? That certainly does not represent the African ancestors you worship.
allfiveny Says:
Aug 29, 2008 - I agree.
allfiveny Says:
Aug 29, 2008 - I love Black Women, and as a young Black Man it saddens me when I'm in school or in the street and (now more than ever) I see so many Black Women of all ages wearing these weaves. I think t.v. billboards and movies have alot to do with the way alot of Black Women see themselves now a days, hopefully things will CHANGE and More Black Women will see how Beautiful they truly are.
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Aug 30, 2008 - White Women where weaves. It does not bother you? Why is it okay for a servant to do as she pleases but a queen has to follow orders. You have it backwards. Really.Your argument is getting no where. All these white women wearing wigs and weaves think you are insane! Sound ignorant.
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Aug 30, 2008 - Black Women are godesses of fashion and can wear whateva they want to go on soul sistas with your wigs weaves bald, braided, bleached, bees waxed heads.
allfiveny Says:
Aug 31, 2008 - #1 I'm very intelligent. It's true Black Women are Godesses, and that's why I think there is a very serious problem with Black Women today. I truly do believe that alot of Black Women of all ages are wearing weaves because they have lost their sense of identity. Take a long walk outside in your community and count all the sisters you see wearing weaves, it's sad. I bet you if you were to ask them why do they choose to wear weaves they won't say it's because they think they're Godesses.
allfiveny Says:
Aug 31, 2008 - When a person or a gruop of people try their hardest to look like someone else or another group of people I feel that is very very sad. Honestly, how can you say you truly love yourself, when you want to and try to look like someone else or another group of people? I'm not going to argue with you. I said what I had to say on this subject, you have the right to wear whatever you choose. One love to all the sisters out their who aren't afraid to be who they truly are, BEAUTIFUL.
dmonique37 Says:
Aug 31, 2008 - Who cares about the weaves? Wear what you want to wear and even if it really your home grown "weave", someone will complain about it. That's why crowns come in different styles! You are not your hair!!!!!! This is dmonique37 and I approve this message.
Sublimation99 Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - totally true man, you'r right!
neothomist1275 Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - "White women where wigs and weaves...I have the right to where what I want to" wear*
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - Thank you. We are not our hair or any other obvious physical difference. That is the territory that has been used to confuse and divide us. I will never give victory to the enemy in that way. I know better.
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - I say that every time you see a black woman in blonde hair and contacts she aint trying to be white she just may be a yoruba priestess of Oshun or a Dahomey Hatian Vodou priestess of Erzilie Freda which in my case is the very truth which is why people who know of me including those in the neosoul movement say I am Uniquely Soulful. Every one of the priestess mentioned earlier Mary, Tina, Beyonce ect are at the top of thier game. It is spiritual ashe not trying to be anything other than self.
RocknRollhoochiecoo1 Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - You can be critical of anyone as a black woman a get sick and tired of hearing how black women have fallen off. The statistics say something different. We have to learn to love and respect ourselves and have an appreciative inquiry dialouge. No ones lives will be transformed via words of hate. No one will be elevated with that. The stagnation war and destruction is the fruit and reward of the enemy for his seed of self hatred Bumani.
theygotaction Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - It seems to me that people are getting away from the real point of this song, It has nothing to do with your hair, Its clearly about a man finding his soulmate which happens to be a sista. Get it together people and comment about this song. By the way this is a great song!!!!!
treasurecat03isme Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - beautifully put. but let me be the ignorant muthafucka to put it bluntly. niggas wanna talk but u are rite, stats do say something very diff. we the heads now so if u brothas dont like it that way and that makes u feel less of a man get on yo muthafuckin grind then cuz thats all we're doin. we cant let the shit fall apart just cuz yall brothas aint steppin up to the plate. no one would eat u feel me. but i love yo comment sista!
treasurecat03isme Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - a lot of black women like myself grow up uneducated about this particular subject. i've gotten perms all my life and just went natural last year. but i didnt come into myself as far as this particular subject is concerned until these past few years and i began to see how society(white) has played its part in everything we do. so to ur comment im sayin that a lot of these women probably dont even know y they probably been gettin perms all their lives and its been the norm which is kool i guess
