Oct 16, 2008 - I'm a trader, and this scene is nothing like real life - such a cliched old script ... get da fwock outta here, gotta trade this figure, make a hundred million trillion dollars for the firm Oh we're going for a ride now!!! Suuuuuuuuure we are

crock703 Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - I've never met a common trader. They seem like the most boring people on the planet.

crock703 Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - Spike Lee is an idiot. Well-intentioned, style, plenty of effort, but dumb. This movie was more about aesthetics and imagery (imaginary substance), than real substance. The "run away and tell you family how lucky they are that you're morally bankrupt" ending? Pathetic. Patriarchal self-flattery, self-delusion. Spike had some fire, but as far as wisdom, its a desperate superficial rendition. All his movies can't tell a story, there's never a genuine moral.

crock703 Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - so what

duffers Says:

Oct 28, 2008 - Whatever it's truly like, traders are depicted as cretins in this film, like they are in real life. Stop disputing semantics and try to ease that conscience of yours.

fxb4 Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - i consider my self a guy who knows a good about finance, but i can't figure out why unemployment number are important? What kinds of trades he is probably exercising? If you can fill in the missing picture

wallyabb Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - i think you missed the point. This is no a depict of reality, but a statement agains that huge monster of selfishnes that americans are. The movie is alegorical. The monsters how work in wall street dont care about this. Most of them musnÂīt even care about that every single action they perform... hundreds lose their homes Well, at least... until now

Nov 12, 2008 - fuggeduhboudit

comfortablesofa Says:

Nov 12, 2008 - you don't know very much about finance if you don't know why the unemployment number is important. If he's betting on employment, he's going for bonds, forex and leveraged instruments.

comfortablesofa Says:

Nov 15, 2008 - You're being ignorant. If you are a trader, you have to bring in atleast ATLEAST a million a year to the firm. That means about $4000 a day. If you're down $1000 one day, you have to bring in $5000 the next. If you go below $15000 in one day, you get fired. You're stressed out all the damn time, and why should you care whats the best interest of someone else? As long as everyone cares for their own interest, we're all good. Thats how it works. There is technically nothing wrong with it.
