Bill Moyers interviews investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill about Blackwater -- in this clip Scahill tells the incredible story of armed Blackwater troops being sent into New Orleans on the order of Blackwater CEO Erik Prince in the aftermath of Katrina. Bill Moyers Journal, airing Friday, October 19th at 9 on PBS, examines what's behind Prince's recent blitz of television interviews defending his private security firm when officials in Iraq said they wanted the company out of their country in the wake of the shooting deaths of Iraqi civilians on September 16. Scahill is the author of the bestselling book: Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army. Apr 23, 2008 - Just finished the book, about Blackwater, and it scared the crap out of me. Why is this being allowed? Is it part of "the World Order" concept? Is this still the USA that was founded on the principle of freedom? Where do I sign up for the nearest "Militia"?

Mahoivlich Says:

Apr 26, 2008 - corporations given police powers.......sick f'n sick

Jun 8, 2008 - Jeremy Scahill is doing good investigative journalism, and the rest of us should follow suit. Well done, Jeremy.

Jun 23, 2008 - good grief America could be a good place if stuff like this wasn't so greatly suppressed. So sad.

Jul 20, 2008 - Look up the Constitution and Bill of Rights, it is completely unconstitutional for military troops to patrol the streets of America. This is why we all must learn to protect ourselves in the event the gov't goes berserk, and anything is possible. It might be a good idea to join our local non-gov't. militia, so that like the Minutemen that saved our nation from the Brits we can save our nation from a corrupt or errant gov't. Instinctive Shooting Inc. a company of mercenaries? I'll check...

MTGRIZ08 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - Unfortunately it not "his" Congress. The Democrats have control and have chosen to do nothing after all of their campaign promises. Do you not remember hearing how they were going to end this unlawful war!?! That didn't happen. It is time to stand up and take back what is ours. Please do some research and find out how you can help out locally.

CurtHowland Says:

Jul 28, 2008 - Don't forget that "the poor" are also the people who are systematically disarmed, while it is not just "the rich", it's the politically well connected who are allowed to not only STAY in their homes, but defend them. This is not a rich/poor issue. It's a political class vs. productive class issue.

whckzog Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - This is a war on the poor, which make up the majority or will make up the majority of the people as they continue to drive down the value of the dollar. They see the masses of the people as a threat to their ever increasing control and seek ways to alleviate and/or remove this threat. We are the threat because we will fight for our lives and well being.

evanom2 Says:

Sep 10, 2008 - Good Lord, who would hve ever imagined with have an american SS in the making.

Sep 21, 2008 - What abuses did the blackwater guys commit whie they were in new orleans? and as for the looters only stealing persihable goods i have heard sory after story of people raiding department stores and there being nothing left on the shelves. I guess televisions stereos and Cds and movies are non perishable items now. i cant blame a rich person for hiring personal security. I would want to do everything to keep my shit from getting looted if i had the money also

kevjo66 Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - Welcome to Amerika.

USFella Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - Why do you assume he's a Democrat-because he talks like he has a brain in his head? Because he actually reports the news?

USFella Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - In October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the US for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The division will be under the control of US Army North. The Army Times says this mission is the 1st time an active unit has had a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The unit may be called to help with civil unrest & crowd control. Soldiers are learning to use "nonlethal" weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

epik5150 Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - So I guess raping woman and stealing electronics are considered perishable items...

leevi1234 Says:

Oct 16, 2008 - Where is Scahill now? Wink wink

thruid3 Says:

Oct 19, 2008 - Erik Prince "crosses the Rubicon". I am glad there are reporters like Scahill who notices and has the guts to report and speak out against it. I wouldn't want Erik Prince to think I was an enemy of his. I wonder what all those mercenaries will be called on to do once they return from Iraq ?

MustangGirlxyz Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - No. He's an American. People need to learn to recognize. "I wasn't born a Republican, Democrat, or yesterday" ~Me
