The day after 9/11. Stranded Americans congregate outside Buckingham Palace in London, England. They can't go home because a no-fly order is in operation. The Queen orders the Guards to play the Star Spangled Banner as a sign of the UK's sympathy for the USA. Even Prince Andrew can be seen stood to attention. An astonishing departure from tradition, Brits are also moved to tears when this clip is televised.

Oct 31, 2008 - the amazing thing about this is that our anthem was written during and about a war against britian(specifically their attack of baltimore and failure to capture the fort)
thesingingtortoise Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - The music, however, is older (and of British origin), being the tune of "The Anacreontic Song", a popular 18th century British drinking song.

Nov 1, 2008 - I don't believe this happened the day after 11 September - I think you'll find it was 2 days after, on the Thursday. Does anyone know which regiment formed the outgoing guard? The New Guard are the Coldstream Guards, but the Old Guard are not a Guards regiment. They are uniformed in standard No 1 blue dress, but I can't make out the cap badges.

Nov 2, 2008 - "Wither thou goest, I will go, whither thou lodgest, I shall lodge also, thy people shall be my people, thy God my God.'" And then Hopkins added quietly, "Even to the end. " US Ambassador Hopkins to Churchill 1940

What's your excuse for the War of 1812? To any brit reading this that isnt an asshole thank you for your gesture of support on that terrible day.

Nov 11, 2008 - lol...your such a joke. I noticed you didnt name a battle in the Revoulutionary War with large French casulties. As for the War of 1812 the last and most decisive battle was the Battle of New Orleans in which the brits were routed and soundly defeated with thousands of casulties. Thanks for playing beyatch

Oct 28, 2008 - If you think Bush was hiding in a cave, you're wrong. If Gore got elected, he would have done the exact same thing. You think the president at the time, Bush or Gore, would have been allowed to walk the streets of a city that was under the largest terrorist attack in the history of the country?
