Jan 21, 2008 - not necessarily. you can rent a special tub, but i've also seen water births in bathtubs, hot tubs, kiddie pools... i've even seen a video of a waterbirth in the ocean! (although that kinda squicked me out.... all the bacteria and micro-organisms... yeesh)

Jan 21, 2008 - I would never have my baby in the ocean! I'd be terrified that a shark would snatch it. Although it is a beautiful idea...a bit weird though. lol

Jan 21, 2008 - haha well, it wasn't in the middle of the ocean. it was in a tide pool in the caribbean, so the water was warm as well... but still. the birth went well, and mom and baby were perfectly healthy, but it just seems so unclean.

Jan 22, 2008 - ohhhh i'm gonna show this to my wife... thanks for sharing. it's need method here in Indonesia. my 2nd is coming next 6 months ;)

Jan 24, 2008 - Aww that seems nicer. I would do that only if someone could test the bacteria level in the water and prove to me that it was safe for the baby. The good part would be no cleanup. lol

Mar 4, 2008 - How amazing that your older children napped just in time to let everyone focus on the new baby. They got to wake up to a brother!! About the water, it is pain management, in part. When heavy with pregnancy, the weightlessness of water is a relief in general, too.

Mar 26, 2008 - This was so sweet. I'm from the old school and I've never heard of a "waterbirth"...is this less painful for the mother, more comfortable for baby?? what are the advantages? By the way, I love the name Henry!

Mar 26, 2008 - I used that "godspeed" song in my videso; I have 3 boys. Very sweet!

Mar 27, 2008 - Water during labor is a GREAT coping technique--whether it's a shower or even better, a big tub. I used it with all 3 of my babies, even though only Henry was a waterbirth. And, being born into water (that's 98-99 degrees) is a really nice entrance into the world for the baby. Not quite as harsh birth is otherwise.

Sep 6, 2008 - Its so buitiful. Im a guy and I cant help but cry. Hahaha. This is the greatest acompishment a human being can achive in this world. To creat another being. Amazing and words can never discribe how beautiful giving birth is. Giving birth in a tub is so natural and some day I hope my wife will do the exact same thing you did. Thank you for sharing your love.

Jan 21, 2008 - well, that, and it's getting a watermelon out of a lemon-sized hole.... but really, a lot of the pain associated with childbirth is psychological.
