Sep 4, 2008 - Muscles are supposed to change length and be elastic. If the muscle is overly rigid and stiff that is not strength. That is brittle. See the muscle's of most elderly people. The muscles are stringy and stiff. This will also lead to poor circulation in the tissue. The arm bones turn in over time because everything we do is in front of us. We drive, eat, sit at the computer etc. and the arm bones become distorted over time.

Sep 4, 2008 - Relaxing in the position mentioned earlier allows the arm bones resume the proper placement in the glenoid cavity. Here, proper means the front of the arm faces forward, taking the pressure off of the brachial plexus (speaking of neurology). It is not intended to force an unnatural state but to correct self induced deformities. I have many text books on neurology. What did you feel I was missing?

Sep 4, 2008 - This Yoga was boarderline torcher for me, and I'm young and pretty physically active. Just a liiiitle too hot, and class was a liiiitle too long! Other wise I think it's a great idea with the heated room and all. After it's all said and done, and you're released from the torcher chamber, you feel good and healthy. :)

Sep 9, 2008 - Not being funny dudes. But have you ever met a Yogi in the Himalayas (Yoga heartland). They practice (sometimes nude or with little clothing) in freezing tempreatures. I can't see any of these Bikram followers mananging that. But if it makes you happy and healthy it's good, I suppose!
realitydan Says:
Sep 10, 2008 - hey Robert, check your inbox.
BakaTheCraneDemon Says:
Sep 12, 2008 - this is an excellent yoga all around and it has its place in the world of excercise yoga. But beyond this Bikram Yoga really helps one to get beyond the senses and the mind and into the vital breath of existence which is spoken of in the Upanishads.
indianrailways Says:
Sep 21, 2008 - Bikram is an idiot who is abusing yoga for his own palate. Doing monkey acrobatics can never give emancipation. It may be good for the gross body. But what is the use of glorifying the perishable gross body which is made of 12 impurities - Oily exudations,Semen,Blood,Fatty substance of the brain,Urine,Faeces,Mucus of the nose,Ear-wax,Phlegm,Tears,Rheum of the eyes and Sweat. After all, the gross body ends up as stool for worms. In some cultures the dead corpse is thrown to the vultures.

Sep 23, 2008 - whats your point?
mizdierbeatz Says:
Sep 23, 2008 - its not that bad. but every now and then...
larom66 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - you can't even have any forms of rational thoughts dip shit.. go wate your time on emancipating you looser friends... get lost
robertemh Says:
Oct 9, 2008 - The physical yoga asanas use the body as a sign post to find the mind and eventually the soul. I mean this quite literally. It is not meant to glorify the body, but to harness it and direct its energies towards enlightenment. Why do you think we were given these human forms?
uomofamoso Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Feeling like you are going to pass out, thirsty as hell, Dizzy, nauseated... aahh!!.. i love it. :) you are right it does make you feel good when its done.
indianrailways Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - first stop eating shitting fucking and sleeping like pigs and then advice others fucking piece of pathetic looser shit. fucking americans are going bankrupt and nuts by doing bikram ass yoga.
indianrailways Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - yes the 9 gated city was given for realizing the super soul. but on the contrary what do you see around? humans abusing their bodies for sense gratifications worse than animals.
robertemh Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - I look around and I see good and bad. Those who are learning lessons, working off bad karma and serving the world. I also see some failing miserably. How best to help them? Patanjali gave us yoga. Yes I agree Bikram is a deush bag. Maybe it puts some on the path.
indianrailways Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - you are right. all i am saying is bikram yoga or hatha yoga is good only for the body. it will give you a well maintained disease free body. but that's it. as u know yoga is not about body. there are 4 dif ways to the same destination - action or karma, knowledge or jnana, devotion or bhakti and mystic or hatha or raja yoga. only bhakti yoga is beyond the 3 gunas and it the easiest path mainly prescribed for this age of hypocrisy and quarrels.
indianrailways Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - as for your q abt failing. there are clear answers to all these in the BG. lord says those who practice and fail need not despair. if u dont achieve it this cycle, then you start off from the point where you left in next cycle. even to ask whoami needs lord's grace after many many karmic cycles. surrender completely and see the awe results.
robertemh Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - I so hope that is true. I'm never going to learn all I must learn in one life. Could you please explain how Bhakti yoga is beyond the gunas? In Hatha yoga we are taught the fruit of our actions do not belong to us. Our efforts are to be given up to the lord. I don't practice to have a pleasing physique. When I practice, I am taking notes to alleviate the suffering of my students (by and large physical ailments). Is this some of the quality of Bhakti Yoga ?

Oct 17, 2008 - uomofamoso you might suffer from too low or high blood pressure! When you get dizzy while forward bent you have too high blood pressure- getting dizzy while backward bend you have too low blood pressure...make sure you are hydrated enough before class so your not too thirsty...Bikram Yoga is amazing! Love it!
elfe1982 Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - Your body regulates the blood pressure so don't worry if your getting naeseated or dizzy it's normal, specially the first couple of session... it all good and a sign that your body is healing and restoring :)
paddyoak Says:
Oct 18, 2008 - You did an excellent job on stage at the OCT 4th seminar! Miss you at the BYML studio.
paddyoak Says:
Oct 18, 2008 - Only if someone farts. The studio where I practice is cleaned on a strict routine basis, so it doesn't smell bad!
Dowdaloud Says:
Nov 2, 2008 - good luck with the heat stroke...

Sep 4, 2008 - Hi Rob, thanks. Get a book on neurology. When a muscle stretches it actually weakens. e.g. an elastic band stretching is weaker then one that isnt. Why do something to weaken a muscle to try to force an arm to sit better (what is better?). When a muscle can find natural length and be strong? I feel more than ever that it is not a worthwhile thing to do. However I am open to other insights into this. Thanks Rob. It is great to question this subject. LOVE
