Apr 29, 2007 - Congratulations Mike! That's a terrific thing for you to be able to talk to Fess, and then have it all on video tape! He sounds like a very good man and that was great for him to call you. I loved the show as a kid growing up in Western PA with the high adventure and the flintlocks and cool caps. It sounds like you should go take a tour of the California wine country and visit Fess' vinyard! Thanks for the post!

Jun 15, 2007 - I always KNEW he (Fess) was a good, decent man and it's an honor to have him as a celebrity, considering the weirdos, perverts, and oddballs that are in and around Hollyweird today. Thank you, Mr. Parker, for being an icon of decency, and Mike, you are a lucky man!

Jun 27, 2007 - Mike, I am very glad you got a chance to speak to Fess Parker. I was very fortunate, because I actually got to see him once when he came to the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, MS. I adored the show, and I have a lot of respect for Fess Parker. One of my best friends and I would also play Daniel Boone when we were young. He was Daniel, I liked playing Mingo (yes, Ed Ames *happy sigh*). Oh, and I am female, so me dreaming about Ed Ames is NOT unusual! Anyway, your collection is awesome.

Jul 22, 2007 - Fess Parker was my hero as a kid. When I was 5 years old (1955) I got a Davy Crockett suit for christmas and had a rug, bedspread, drapes, and cup all Davy Crockett. So nice to hear from Fess Parker. He was definately my favorite as a kid, and I never lost that feeling. What a lucky guy to get this call.

Sep 12, 2007 - Mike, As a life long collector, I can understand the thrill of the hunt. And you getting to speak to your hero is so cool. I have a room in my house that holds my stuff and every time I add to it, it'a just wonderful. Keep your treasures in the family, my stuff is gonna be going to my niece and nephew after I go to that great eBay in the sky.

He deserves to have more loyal fans like you, Mike, and I am so stoked for you that you got to talk to him like that. Now, go MEET the guy!!! I would love to know how something like that would turn out. P.S. - I enjoyed watching Daniel Boone as a kid!! Terrific show!

Nov 27, 2007 - That was so cool, really nice of Mr.Parker to give you a call. He will always be one of my all time tv heros. I agree with jberton1060 Go meet the Mr.Parker. A telephone call is so great. But to meet the man himself in person. Seriously make the time. Mr.Parker is a legend. A chance like that only comes along once in a life time.

Dec 22, 2007 - fess, you represent all that was decent and trustworthy to kids in the fiftys and sixties. actually, when i hear your voice, it brings me back to the fifties, i still, to this day, tell my kids, be sure you're right, then go ahead.you're personality and demeanor really hit home with the davey crockett character.god bless you and yours, and .........be sure your right, then go ahead...........

Dec 30, 2007 - Wow so cool! As a young Montana girl transplanted to the City of Eugene OR at the age of 7, I was taunted for my Daniel Boone lunch box. A couple of days ago I saw Fess Parker as Posey in The Dirty Dozen. I know now he is pure animal magnatism, I just didn't get it back then. Sure wish I still had that lunch box, Damn those bullies. Congrats on a fantastic collection.

Jan 29, 2008 - Mike and I have alot in common - and as a Fess Fan - in Davy Crockett & Dan'l Boone - everything he's been in, just a real man of soft spoken integrity - and the shows hold up wonderfully - for all to see, forever. I was lucky enough to meet the great man at a rodeo in Eugene, OR in '69. One of TV's all time legends - God bless you Fess!!!

Jul 10, 2008 - What an honor to get a call from The Man HIMSELF! The show was a little before my time, (I'm 38), but it was heavily-syndicated in the '70s, & I never missed it! Can't find it ANYWHERE these days; I KNOW my 2 sons would enjoy it! As a kid, I also spent many hours "re-enacting", throwing a plastic hatchet at a coffee can "log", "Dan'l hits his leg w/ hatchet" scene. (Thank God my parents had enough sense NOT to let me get hold of a real ax! LOL) GREAT vid!(LIKE the Bowie knife on the table!)
