As a patriotic American it offends me when people say that we are self-centered. Prosperity is a zero-sum game, we'll help those in need, but only slightly. We simply can't sacrifice our own economic prosperity to help out African countries. Besides most of the foreign aid goes to corrupt military despots anyways.

The more we spend over there, the less we spend at home. Security Vs. Privacy is a zero-sum game and balancing act. And again, i mean to say the funding for privacy (read: military funding) is zero-sum and we can't improve our military by funding other countries and incentivizing dependence upon foreign aid.
