Soundtrack from Into the Wild - by Eddie Vedder. This is also a tribute to Christopher McCandless. Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life. Song Lyrics: hmmm ooh hooo hooo It's a mistery to me we have a greed with which we have agreed You think you have to want more than you need until you have it all you won't be free society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me When you want more than you have you think you need and when you think more than you want your thoughts begin to bleed I think I need to find a bigger place 'cos when you have more than you think you need more space society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me there's those thinking more or less less is more but if less is more how you're keeping score? Means for every point you make your level drops kinda like its starting from the top you can't do that... society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me society, have mercy on me I hope you're not angry if I disagree society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me

Nov 23, 2008 - this society is shitty but the alternative is to run away from it? into the wild of Alaska? i wonder if the guy would stay in Alaska for his all life (if he hasn't died of course)

Mandalor91 Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Read the book "Into the Wild", of which this movie is derived. The names of his favorite authors are provided in the text. In addition, each chapter begins with an excerpt from a book that Mr. Supertramp found moving. If you like "Into the Wild", you may also enjoy "Walden" by Henry Thoreu I forgive your english

modestwine Says:

Nov 25, 2008 - I realize that as humans, we all need (at some point or another) the compassion and companionship of another. However, I am taking this man's life to my heart. I leave in two months, but east is the way, across the ocean. A friend is always wecomed.

edslaved Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - there are no meta narratives....

rainman201 Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - where you going east?

WhySoGr33n Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - into the wild??

WhySoGr33n Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - to leave it isn't necessarily to "run away" from it. what, do you think its better to feel miserable in it but be too cowardly to leave it in the end?

WhySoGr33n Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - his life wasn't squandered. he probably lived more in his short years than your average old person ever has. a lot of people these days are walking corpses, thinking just because their heart beats, they're really alive. not true.

quamquat92 Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - I would think Thoreau's "Walden" Jack London's "white fang" and "the call of the wild" Leo Tolstoy's works

RIRedRooster Says:

Nov 27, 2008 - I've no doubt he lead a fuller life than many. Squandered in the sense, I think he wanted to live a few more years. "Attention possible visitors. S.O.S. I need your help. I am injured and near death and too weak to hike out of here. I am all alone. This is no joke. In the name of God please remain to save me. I am out collecting berries close by and shall return this evening. Thank you." Does not sound to me like someone who was quite ready to leave this earth. Just my opinion.

fudunger Says:

Nov 27, 2008 - He died 2 years after setting out.

tmyaungtheinjy Says:

Nov 27, 2008 - what's ur plan?

modestwine Says:

Nov 29, 2008 - East to Europe, and from there I'll let the wind guide me.

modestwine Says:

Nov 29, 2008 - The plan is to see Europe, to see the world of my ancestors, to see life. From there, as I've said before, I'll let the wind guide me.

scanevaro Says:

Nov 29, 2008 - n_n

turdcoat Says:

Nov 29, 2008 - I agree with you completely. That is a rare thing for me to do with someone.

turdcoat Says:

7gunner7 Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - 3:03 Is Vedder's voice vibrating or just not perfect audio? o_O

cstarrh92 Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - ovioulsy he wasnt going to stay...he had accomplished his goal and was trying to leave but he couldnt cross the river so he was trapped and then starved to death. after his his 2 year absense, he was content on returning and that was what he palnned to do

cstarrh92 Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - dont be an ignorant on this subject. to start, your partially right, he did not have formal wilderness survival training, but that doesnt mean he did not reasearch for hours about local flora and fauna and ask locals along his way about tips for certain obstacles he thought he may encounter in the wild. he survived for a year. a whole fucking year. alone. finding his own food and doing everything by himself. he confused an edible plant with an inedible plant and most experts confuse them too.

zanfet Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - From here to eternity deeper and deeper...

srturtle71 Says:
