Oct 28, 2008 - originalboobfan1, Nobody wants to see them play rhythm? There's a silly statement. Seeing the majority of guitarist spend 90% of their time playing leads, and the remainder on rhythm, I'd have to disagree. How often do you hear a player with really great rhythm chops? It's the first thing I look for in a guy's playing. And no, I'm not talking about simple strumming. I'm talking more along the lines of SRV playing Couldn't Stand the Weather. Name the tune where Beck's as funky & raunchy. Please.

Nov 1, 2008 - I feel sorry for you.
PageandPlant4Life Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - Listen to ''Blow by Blow'' by Jeff Beck. then you can blow your boyfriend. The majority of guitarists don't play lead 90% of the time. Sometimes it is good for the guitarist to just hang back and play rhythm and let the other musicians shine. Best Rhythm guitarist is probably Pete Townshend.
cutglove Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - PageandPlant4Life, That's great stuff! Too bad I was playing Cause We Ended As Lovers B4 you were in diapers. But so what? The fact is Blow By Blow is hardly an album I'd cite for great rhythm work. As far as Townshend being the best ryhthm player, you need to expand your horizons there, son. Oh and yes, the majority of guitarists certainly do spend 90% of their time playing leads. You're so fucking stupid you posted what is arguably SRV's weakest Voodoo Chile on YOUTUBE as your fave! Cunt.
PageandPlant4Life Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - Listen to ''You know what I mean'' on Blow by Blow. It has some cool funky rhythm work for a guy who actually does play mostly lead. Name someone who is a better Rhythm player than Pete Townshend.

Nov 5, 2008 - Roy is amazing.

Nov 5, 2008 - PageandPlant4Life, U can get of Blow by Blow already, seeing I purchaesd it on vinyl back when it was released. Besides, 9th chords are boring. Truth & the Orange album are both better, by the way. As for better than Pete...Chuck Berry, SRV, Hendrix, Keith Richards, Steve Cropper, Johnny Winter, Bruce Welch, Curtis Mayfield, EVH, John Butcher, Robert White, Rich Robinson, Malcolm Young, Eddie willis, Dennis Coffey, Larry Carlton. Start with them, Junior. Maybe you'll actually learn something.
PageandPlant4Life Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - I guess it is really just a matter of opinion, but I really didn't hear one person who comes close to Pete. EVH sucks dick. He is a wanker. But hey, at least you aren't stupid enough to put someone like Zakk Wylde or Slash on your list. Congrats!
cutglove Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - PageandPlant4Life, EVH does not suck dick, bro. Listen to VHII from start to finish some time. His riff-work and rhythm playing are astounding. Do a YOUTUBE search for VH's LIGHT UP THE SKY & let me know what you think.

Nov 9, 2008 - At the risk of being called a cunt (not that I mind smelling of it every now and then), check out Kid Andersen on YT playing Sensation, the Freddie King instro. Lemme know, 'k?
cutglove Says:
Nov 9, 2008 - strandwolf, He's good. I like his style. Never heard of him Bf. Where's he from?
strandwolf Says:
Nov 9, 2008 - Hee's from Norway and has replaced Little Charlie in the Night Cats. He lives in central California. He's got a MySpace page that lays out the curriculum vitae. Just Google Kid Andersen. Don't know his age. The YT clips are weird in that sometimes, within the space of a year or two, he can look just like Drew Carey, or else a 14 year old skateboarder...might be a binge-purger, lol. Hear he plays a Flying V lately. He might go big career-wise, and that would be good for music IMO.

Nov 27, 2008 - No denying it...one of the greats. Thank you for posting, a gem. Ain't this what You Tube is really all about?
Cidriullo Says:
Nov 27, 2008 - He was from Baltimore...died in jail I think, officially a "suicide." Heard he used to like to get drunk and fight with cops. Danny Gatton was another great Baltimore area Telecaster slingin' suicide victim.
cutglove Says:
Nov 27, 2008 - Cidriullo, I was actually referring to Kid Anderson when I asked "Where's he from." Yeah, I'm aware of Roy & Danny. Never saw Roy, but did see Gatton. On a completely different subject, I like your Staffy! I own American Bulldogs. I looked @ a Staffy litter a couple years ago, bred by Don Matthews of Konfederate Kennels in FLA. Check his website, his dogs are great. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Dec 4, 2008 - Phenomenal! what is it about Teles that leads virtuosos to end up dead under suspicious circumstances??? Danny shot, Roy hung... I'll never play like these guys but the better I become the more worried I get.
originalboobfan1 Says:
Oct 28, 2008 - -cutglove I would have to say they (Roy,Beck,Vai, and Zappa) can play rhythm if they are going to pull a melody out of the second mode of a Harmonic minor it would be safe to say they could strum a few chords to go with it. what Im saying is all chords are formed from scales and if you understand scales its simple to use the 1,3,5 and then accent the chord with maybe a 6,7,9th or any whatever its pretty simple to deduce that they could strum if need be. Nobody wants to see them play rhythm
