The culture in the DR is beautiful, the people there are friendly, but the terrain is very different too. The DR is lush, lots of GREEN! They are still behind in times... But it is very cheap. In my biased opinion though, go to Hawai'i the sunsets and sunrises are much more beautiful. The nights are lovely, and when you go back home, you'll be longing to go back.
